    Hi there,

Since the “last” version of YOAST (with the speed up button), my site is crashing everytime I activate YOAST. I had to totally disable it… I tried again yesterday with the latest version, but the website crashes again… My hosting company told me that:

“The issue comes from YOAST. YOAST launched many requests which lock the database and it is now necessary to deactivate YOAST in order to stop these requests. This is the second time that the problem has arisen in a few weeks, so I think their requests are problematic and are too cumbersome to execute.

If we stop the requests without disabling YOAST the requests will start again as soon. The problematic request is : DELETE wyi FROM wp_yoast_indexable wyi INNER JOIN wp_yoast_indexable wyi2 WHERE wyi2.object_id = wyi.object_id AND wyi2.object_type = wyi.object_type AND wyi2.id < wyi.id”

Could you please help ? This is a multisite website.

    Thank you,
    Cedric

  • I also encounter DB issues (mostly high cpu usage) in the last update (14.5) due to the indexing feature (had to downgrade).

We have a relatively large database (~250K posts) and from what we see the indexing process itself (hooked into the shutdown hook) dramatically affects DB performance (cpu usage reached ~60% within 5 minutes after the update).

    WP version: 5.3.1
    Yoast version: 14.5

    Hi @cedriccharles,

Thank you for reaching out, we apologize for the issues you are having.

Looking at the exact query you mentioned, we suggest resetting the indexables using the following steps:

Can you please try to do the following:

    1) Install the Yoast Test Helper plugin, found here https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/yoast-test-helper/
    2) Go to Tools → Yoast Test
    3) Click the Reset Indexables tables & migrations button.
    4) Go to SEO → Tools.
    5) Click the Start processing and speed up your site now button and let it complete.

Can you let us know if this helps? After the resetting, the indexables table will automatically be used again when people use and visit sites that are in your multisite. Thanks!
