Hi,
You can deactivate Elementor plugin like any other plugin.
As soon as it is deactivated, the option will be available to delete/remove the plugin. Thanks, but for some reason, I think I can do that with the other plugins, but not with the Elementor plugin.
So, first you deactivate Elementor, then you hit the delete and it still stays there?
Can you elaborate more what you do and what happens? When I scan your site here: https://scanwp.net/ it does not detect Elementor, so it looks it is deleted?
I see that theme has pagebuilder build in, never a good idea!
You depend on that theme to make sure the pagebuilder is kept up to date, and you can not remove it.You need a theme that lets you chose your own plugins.
I recommend OceanWP free theme, use it for 70+ sites and webshops!
https://nl.www.ads-software.com/themes/oceanwp/In case you would change theme, make sure to clean out your database and start fresh. Those themes are known to leave lots of leftovers in the database.
Looks like you are still starting so no real work has been done in your site, you could use the database cleanup plugin to start from fresh with a new theme that does not incorporate third party plugins you can not delete or update yourself.
When I edit posts and pages, the “Edit with Elementor” button is there. It looks like Elementor is still in my plugins page, with the word “Deactivate.“ When I click on Deactivate, a rectangle stays around it.
If you are talking about SiteOrigin’s Page Builder, that theme brags about it being a powerful plugin, so I’m confused. Would you explain, please?
Would you please recommend a database cleanup plugin that would work?

Is it WP-Sweep?
I’m still figuring out what to do, but I appreciate you sharing your knowledge about things that I wouldn’t have thought of on my own.
And, Elementor is still at my site.
Hi,
I use this one:
https://nl.www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-reset/This will give you a clean database again, but:
`RESETTING WILL NOT DELETE OR MODIFY:
media files – they remain in the wp-uploads folder untouched but will no longer be listed under Media in admin
no files are touched; plugins, themes, uploads – everything stays
site title, WordPress address, site address, site language and search engine visibility settings
currently logged in user will be restored with the current username and password`So you will need to delete Elementor and that theme manually. Clearing database however, might remove the strange thing that does not let you remove Elementor.
First try to install the oceanWP theme and delete that current theme. See if Elementor is gone and or you now can delete it.

SiteOrigin is a good pagebuilder, but with the free version of Elementor, you can do so much more if you ask me.
It is strange that you see Elementor in the plugin page though. Do you also see the SiteOrigin’s Page Builder in there?
Did you upload or searched for and install Elementor yourself earlier, or whas it there as soon as you installed that theme?
What happens if you activate the oceanWP theme and deactivate the current theme?
Is Elementor still there?I think installed Elementor, and maybe also one that sounded like it. One of them asked me if I wanted to install another one, and I did, but I forgot which one asked me.
Is it okay if I used WP-Sweep?
I’m using oceanWP now. I made it so all the other themes aren’t stored.
I couldn’t delete Elementor.
SiteOrigin’s Page Builder wasn’t in the plugin page.
It seems like SiteOrigin and Elementor can do a lot, but they are both more than I need, unless one can help me remove the search form, so I can use a bbPress forum search form instead. I wasn’t able to remove the form using either of the two methods at https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-disable-the-search-feature-in-wordpress/, one of which I tried with the Code Snippets plugin.
I tried to use Elementor, but I got tired of waiting for it to take me to the next screen. I might have been doing something wrong, though. Like, once I couldn’t find options because I didn’t scroll down enough. I’m kind of scared to try Elementor now, because I already made my site, and I’m getting tired of experimenting. But, I’d try if I could remove the search form.
Hi,
If Elementor is rather slow in the backend, that might be due to not enough memory and or PHP version. I use 7.4.14 and will wait a bit to upgrade to PHP 8.
You can use wp sweet as well, beware that what you have created so far, will be gone.
You will need to start over, the database reset will deliver a brand new WP install.Your installed plugins, media, user will be intact, but not pages and posts.
Do you have access to your files on the server?
If so, check if the Elementor folder is still there in wp-content>plugins
If so remove it there and see if it is still in your installation. It is very strange, because even when I inspect your url, it does not detect Elementor!
Oh, with Ocean WP ( have you installed the needed free plugin Extra https://oceanwp.org/extension/ocean-extra/ yet? )
With that theme in customizer, you can remove the search with one click.
Just google for: oceanwp tutorials and you will find tons of good tutorials about it.
You can also join our FB group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/OceanWP/In case you do not need all the extra’s of a pagebuilder, you might have enough by using the build in Blocks of Gutenberg by the way.
You do not need to install any pagebuilder in that case, because it comes by default in WordPress.
