deactivate some plugins and then unable to access wp-admin

I forgot to note that my WP version is 2.6

the exact problem is: i can login, but all the things tat appear is my nikname and the word “Dashboard” on the top left, all the window is blank…:(

oops, sorry double post, must take my finger off the mouse.

Did the plugins edit something in the admin? I’d try to re-upload WP files, perhaps some files have been edited or something. Just the files from the root to your server, if that doesn’t work, the admin folder, etc. And/or delete the plugins using FTP too/first.

I just tried to delete all the plugins! It….doesn’t work as well!! :((

Now I will try to re-upload WP files, but one question please: will I have to run the file install.php again after re-uploading? Or in other words: will I have to start my blog from the scratch?

No. Everything is savely in your database and install.php is only required if WP needs to make database changes. As long as you leave your wp-config.php alone, there’s little to worry about. And I wouldn’t put back the whole WP pack at ones. It’s probably just one rotten file, but it’s hard to say which one. My guess is in the root (that why I’d start there) or otherwise wp-admin.
Remember, you’re only working on WP, the exterior, all the rest (posts, comments, etc. : interior) is in the database. Even if you delete everything that has to do with WP from your server, you’ll still have the database.
Of course it never hurts to make backups, but putting some WP files on your server is actually just a small thing.
