Deactivated tooltips lead to strange numbering of footnotes and parser problems

  • Using footnotes 1.6.1, but reproducable back to 1.5.2.

    When deactivating the tooltip popups, the footnotes plugin goes completely bonkers: automatic numbering does not work reliably any more, i.e. footnotes won’t be numbered 1-2-3-4-5-6, but 1-2-3-6-4-5, and sometimes footnotes won’t be detected at all, so the shortcodes are displayed in the output (parser problems, it seems, as splitting the paragraph with the undetected footnote will make the plugin detect it again).

    After reactivating the popups, everything is all right again.

    In all seriousness, though. Thanks for your report. We’ll try to reproduce and fix this error in an upcoming release.

    I hope this hasn’t caused too much trouble as it is.
