Deactivating SSP Plugin to update WP/Theme

Also, when we tried to install the new theme about 3 months ago, I kept getting logged out of WP, and had to request a new password in order to login. This happened well over 20 times until I gave up and switched back to our old theme and site. Is this due to the plugin 500 error? If I updated it to 1.17.3 (we have 1.16.2 right now) which is the newest, will there be any additional issues?

Thanks for the message. Yes your podcast settings and Podcast CPT posts will remain when you reactivate the plugin. Even deleting the plugin and reinstalling it from scratch will preserve those settings/episodes on your site.

As for your question about it logging you out of WP I can’t answer much there. Sounds like something that would happen when you change one of the General settings about your site (like the site URL, etc.). We’ve not seen that specifically associated with changing anything with SSP.

Have you had others that use SSP on a theme called Divi?

*As a side note, this is a website solely dedicated to a podcast. My main concern is to keep in tact, our RSS feed. We do not want to start from scratch or lose the feed.*

I ran into issues updating our site with a new theme and if I can’t solve it, the worst case scerino, we have to start from scratch. My concern is losing our RSS feed and podcast episodes that we have through SSP. Is there a way to keep in tact, our feed, stats, and podcast episodes, and move the entire plugin to a new WP site without starting over or disrupting anything?

My plan to switch to the theme we’ve been wanting, Divi, sort of worked today, as I deactivated all plugins, then updated them while they were deactivated, in order to update WordPress.

But now, when I’m ready to start rebuilding the website with Divi, I experienced the same logging in and out issue/needing to request a password every time, even though WP, plugins, and Divi and the Divi builder are all updated.

So, I removed Divi and activated the WP 2017 theme and I haven’t been logged out yet. I think there may be an issue with the Divi theme and Seriously Simple Podcasting.

Do you know of this theme and any issues it has with the plugin?

I would appreciate all help on this!

Thanks for the message and the update. Definitely something we’ve not seen first hand before where there appears to be a conflict between Divi and SSP.

As for moving the plugin and data to another site you could do that as long as the database gets moved over as well. All of your podcast settings and episodes are stored in the DB so as long as you move it over to a new install it would be fine. The Podcast CPT are only available when the plugin is installed and activated as you’ve probably seen.
