Hi there, I recently had a slightly stressful experience when deactivating this plugin – our (live) site went into maintenance mode! Can you address this please?

    Plugin Version 1.5.0?

    WordPress Version 6.6.1

    Many thanks,

    Annika

    Hi,

That usually happens if the deactivating process or updating process of a plugin is interrupted.

WordPress creates a temporary file in site directory – “.maintenance”

Please use FTP/File Manager to access your WordPress installation file. You can see the file there. Removing it will also bring the site back from maintenance mode.

You can check this article for further information.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards.

Thank you for your prompt response – I did manage to recover from it but was scared to try it again ?? I will update the plugin now and try again..

Incidentally, this is what was in the .maintenance file, i wonder if it is informative to you in any way?

    Hi,

Thanks for the information. What’s in the file is random, and doesn’t tell us anything.

Please let me know if it happens again.

    Kind regards.
