• I’m having a problem here, and was hoping for some help.

    I purchased hosting, installed WordPress, and set everything up just fine. My site was accessible as https://neighborhooddogs.hostingprovider.com.

    I bought a domain, pointed it to my host, and it works fine for the homepage. But if I press a link to another page on my site, say, Blog, the address bar displays the neighborhooddogs.hostingprovider.com, not the domain I purchased.

    I recall dealing with this sometime in the past… I thought all I had to do was update the information on the General settings page, but apparently not. If I do that, changing neighborhooddogs.hostingprovider.com to my domain, I get a pageful of errors:

    Warning: file_exists() [function.file-exists]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/.htaccess) is not within the allowed path(s):in misc.php on line 133

    Warning: is_writable() [function.is-writable]

    Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at misc.php:133) in pluggable.php on line 890

    etc, etc. (Those are just excerpts, not the full errors).

    Can someone tip me off as to what I’ve forgotten to do? It’d be an enormous help, and I’d really appreciate it.

  • Just to confirm, you updated both the WordPress address and Site address on the General settings page?

    I think this is most likely a permalinks issue, did you update your .htaccess file after switching your domain name? You can go to the Permalink Settings page and click the “Save Changes” button to update your .htaccess file.
