Dealing with hacks

My son-in-law kindly opened this avenue (WordPress) for my blog. However, I have found that it is a target for hackers and spammers. I’ve instituted the “registration” method, so that there is the beginning of a screening process … but gambling-casino hackers have found their way through that, and I’m afraid I’ll be getting as many as 100 spammed comments on my blog per day again. I’m a computer user … nothing else. If you have wisdom … and can explain a way for me to install protection from these people and sites, please let me know. Thanks. Ken
