From the looks of things, there are two entries for the “Contact Form” list in there that are basically this:

Feels like spam more than anything at this point, and it’s possible that our API detected that it was spam and rejected the inclusion. However, along with that, we had the error admin notice get triggered, which is why we’re here now.

Out of curiosity and just for testing sake, when you go and submit to that same form, with valid values, does it trigger the admin notice again? Or does your test submission go all the way through?

Hi and thanks for following up! I just sent a test email form and got no Error email from WordPress, would the spam thing trigger the error?

I won’t 100% guarantee it, but I also can’t rule out the possibility.

At this point, unless the admin message is coming up regularly and persistently, then we may be in an overall good position. It kind of feels like it was a temporary thing.

That said, I also personally wish that a bit more information was provided so that if it was a spam email submission that got rejected, we could better react to those cases :D. Maybe something in the future here.

Notice how they’re the same until the last one, which is probably when the address got flagged as possible spam.

Have you looked into possibly making use of the Google reCAPTCHA settings available to you to help combat spam at all?

Hmm…

The “We had trouble processing your submission. Please review your entries and try again.” error only shows up if not all required fields were met, or the security nonce didn’t validate successfully. Given the error log above, my bets are mostly on the nonce part. The question ends up being mostly why are they not refreshing like needed. Do you know if the site in question has some strong caching in place that may be contributing?

Indeed it does, which is why those two are very likely related. The question is, and I don’t have an answer just yet, is why it’s failing for legit people but not you, unless enough time has lapsed where nonces had since refreshed or caches were flushed to clear out things.
