• Monster insights, along with its subsidiaries (including exactmetrics) have basically been going round buying up all the free Google Analytics plugins and rebranding them, whilst at the same time using the rebrand and redesign as cover to remove loads of features that were free prior to their takeover and injection of corporate greed. Basically charging you to see your own data. I don’t trust that at all.
Regardless, don’t use it… or at the very least massively limit the permissions you grant it in GA… it asks for a LOT of control of your account.

We ask for the permissions required to do the features we offer. We have a complete list of the permissions we ask for and what we use them for here: https://www.monsterinsights.com/docs/google-permissions-for-oauth/

We only have acquired a single plugin (not sure where this going around acquiring idea came from) and we didn’t seek to acquire it, Alin came to us to sell it to us.

We charge for our premium version to cover the cost of having a full time staff, API costs and costs of doing business in general. All major plugins by definition have to come up with some sort of monetization model in order to be sustainable. Ours allows us to provide a great product backed by great service.

Also re:title we don’t sell data, harvest it, etc. We are like Apple in that we make our money by charging for a premium version.
