Deceptive Beta Test Marketing—Shame!
-
We have several users that installed this extremely buggy plugin because of what we think is an overzealous attempt to elicit unwitting alpha/beta testers. There is a difference between “Test Drive” and “Beta Test” or, “Test Pilot” if you will.
When someone goes to an auto dealer to “Test Drive” a car they don’t expect hazardous conditions to be present in the vehicle. And, following that analogy, this not ready for release software should not be “marketed” in this irresponsible way. Shame on Automattic for further treating the WordPress community as pawns to be leveraged in an unceasing quest for dollars.
P.s. If anyone doesn’t understand what “Beta Test” (the accurate term being avoided and dressed up) means, then they ought not be marketed to to do beta testing under false and misleading terms like “test drive”.
