• I have been pretty impressed with wordfence and ready to turn off fail2ban as redundant (fail2ban though still reports attempts before wordfence gets to them).

Today I went to log in to my web site and got a full screen “your IP has been locked out by wordfence” (sorry, should have taken a picture for exact wording). I then tried to just access my site and also got the same message. <sigh>.

It gave me a method of getting unlocked which worked, but I still have no idea why I was locked out (hadn’t touched the site all day).

It is days like these I’m glad I’m not a premium customer because paying someone to randomly lock me out would be a real bummer.

  • Hi bruce,
Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with Wordfence. The Wordfence “Live Traffic” feed shows all blocks that happen to your site. If this were to happen again, just check there for an explanation of why you were locked out. Then you can change that setting to make it less prone to false positives. If you need help, you are also always welcome to post here in our forums on www.ads-software.com. Best of luck with your sites!
