We recently noticed an increased discrepancy between the number of purchases reported on Meta, and the number reported on WooCommerce. After speaking with LifeVac’s Meta Representative, we believe the main issue is that Deduplication isn’t working properly on our Meta Pixel. And that this is primarily being caused by the Purchase Pixel not sending back? Event ID data, as can be seen below in this screenshot from Meta’s Event Manager section.

Thankfully, LifeVac’s Meta Representative said the solution should be pretty straightforward. This guide from Meta’s go into how to re-setup sending Event ID data: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/marketing-api/conversions-api/deduplicate-pixel-and-server-events/. The Representative did specifically recommend using Event ID and Event Name as the safest option for making sure Event Deduplication is properly working.

Can this be done with your plugin? We are using Pro version on the site.

All our events have the required event ID. Missing event ID indicates that there is something else triggering the events. In fact, when I check your site I can see that the same pixel is installed twice: once using our plugin, once by something else. Remove that second install. It might be another plugin, like Meta for WordPress. I can’t test the purchase events, so I can’t give you a definitive answer.

As a general answer, make sure that:

    1. The pixel is not installed multiple times (seems to be the case here).
    2. Purhcase events are not configured outside the plugin (GTM, Meta Events Setup Tool).
    3. There is no custom code triggering events (purchase events).
    4. Automatic events without code is not enabled inside Meta Events Manager Settings. This is a known source for duplicating purhcase events, since Meta will trigger a purhcase event when the WooCommerce place order button is clicked.

When testing your events with Pixel Helper or inside Events Manager, you can easily identify our events. They have a large number of parameters, including one showing the plugin’s name.

As for the Meta’ support recommendation, it doesn’t apply when you use our plugin. Their instructions are useful if you manually configure your API integration.
