Default Avatar not showing

I have the most recent ‘Kleo’ theme. With the buddypress login as part of my main top menu. WP User Avatar works fine if a photo has been uploaded for a user, but if nothing has been uploaded, the default avatar doesn’t show. So what shows is ” class=’kleo-rounded” alt=””>
