The default template is for Post and Page notifications. It does not come into play when you simply want to send an email. If you pick a post or page and choose the “Notify Users about this post” (or page) from the Edit screen or from the Post or Page menu, you will see your template being used.

Thanks Mike. Makes sense now. How easily can I modify the plugin to allow for this? I have a message I need to send out to new members and do not want to retype the message all the time. We reckon we might get 50 – 100 new members per week in the first week. I cannot use the group email, as I have to add a coupon code that can only be used once and by one person.

I’ve given this some thought and it might be possible to enhance the plugin to do this:

    1. Define a template, possibly as a custom post type but it may be simple enough to store it as standard meta data.
    2. On the Email Screen have an option to compose a new email OR select from a standard template.

Do you think that would address your problem?

That would be great. If I (or any other administrator that wants to email users) can have the option to either send a custom email or select a template and email a group or single users (maybe have more then one template option?) this plugin will just make life so much easier.
