Default category always being added to posts

  • I’e run into a problem since 3.04 was released.

    Whenever I add a post WP now adds the default category even if there is one or more categories selected for the post.

    Prior to 3.04 this wasn’t the case.

    Anyone seen this or have an idea what the problem is?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    I haven’t tried any of that as I am looking to see if it is a known issue first before I go through that tedious process

    Just to follow up. I have the same problem on two different sites. One is a site I run and the second is a WordPress hosted blog.

    It seems as if the issue is either 3.04 or 3.04 and the MarsEdit software I use to post with

    And it does appear to have been a WordPress bug. I updated to 3.1 this morning and the problem is gone. No other changes in the site so there must have been some change in 3.04 that was patched in 3.1
