Default [code] tag not working

I’m trying to include source code in a post and the normal wordpress shortcode “[code]" doesn't seem to be working.(https://en.support.wordpress.com/code/posting-source-code/)
Might this be related to Shortcode Ultimate? Is there a way I can accomplish the same thing within the plugin? Thanks very much!
