Default Code View

I just installed WordPress today and have only just glanced at some of the source. But I’m a little stuck here.

I like the WYSIWYG editor, but I have always liked using notepad for my editing of pages instead of WYSIWYG.

So I am wondering: How do I make this option default, but still available?

I’ve searched some and come upon a couple posts with this exact question, but which have yet to be resolved. I’ve also searched elsewhere online, and have spent a while searching through files trying to track down how this setting is done, but to no avail. If this has been answered somewhere, some please point me in the right direction!
