Default Gallery not showing intermediate page

  • I wonder if anyone can help please.

    [WP now upgraded to the very latest and running on PHP 7.2]

    I had been successfully using the in-built gallery facility and clicking on a thumbnail took one to an intermediate page where Description and Caption attributes could be displayed.

    Clicking on the slightly larger thumbnail opened the image in a full screen.

    This intermediate stage is now missing, for clicking on the gallery thumbnail goes straight to the full-size image and there is no opportunity for the User to see the vital information.

    Am I missing something?

    The correct term I should have used was “Link to Media Page”

    I have discovered that it is a setting in Yoast which disables this.

    Search Appearance | Media | Redirect attachment URLs to the attachment itself?

    Selected ‘No’ and normal service will be resumed. However, this may be an inelegant solution.
