The plugin is working, but even though I have a “Default External Featured Image” defined, products with no corresponding image are not showing the default image.

Also, it won’t display images that have different cases (uppercase name in database, lowercase file name). That may have been happening before, but I wouldn’t have noticed, since the default image would show instead.

    Let’s try something:

    1) metadata > enable clean metadata;
    2) metadata > enable fake internal featured image (the SECOND one).

If that doesn’t make difference, please try to install another theme, Storefront, for example, and let me know what happens.

Once you are the first user reporting this problem, it could be good if I could simulate your problem on my environment as well. Where can I download your theme?

    (@marceljm)

Could you give me an example of that?

Tried to enable clean metadata, but the server timed out.

I enabled fake internal featured image, but that caused many products to show the default image even though there was an image for that product already. Other products still showed a blank square instead of any image.

The theme is Divi from Elegant Themes. I tried changing the theme to 2019, but got the same result.

Also, I just ran another import and now every product is showing the placeholder image…

Give me a link to a post that has this “blank square”, please. Also, send me the image URL.

And give me an example of that, please:

Check out the 3rd row here:
    https://projectordoctor.com/product-category/3m-projector-lamp/page/3/

I manually fixed the upper/lowercase issue by renaming the jpgs.

    Plugin Author Marcel

    (@marceljm)

The plugin uses exactly the URL that is provided, @squiggy45. It doesn’t apply any upper/lowercase. If the URL is wrong, so your site will try to access a wrong address and it won’t have the image.

This one is an Internet rule, not a plugin problem.

    (@marceljm)

About the “blank square” issue, I have accessed the link.

That’s trying to get this image
    https://projectordoctor.com/product_images/78-6969-9949-5.jpg

But there is no image on that address. You just need to use a valid image URL, @squiggy45.

    Thread Starter Squiggy45

    (@squiggy45)

That image doesn’t exist. Since I have a placeholder/default image set, shouldn’t the plugin be showing the default image?

    Plugin Author Marcel

    (@marceljm)

    Hi, @squiggy45.

Once you have provided an URL (broken or not), it’s considered your post has a featured image, then the theme can’t show the placeholder anymore.

Placeholders only are shown when there is no featured image. A broken featured image is still a featured image.

For this reason, it was created “Validate Images” feature, that works trying to avoid the broken URL be saved. But once that’s saved, there is nothing we can do.

    (@squiggy45)

Got it. Since Woocommerce will show the placeholder image when the intended image is missing (whether or not there is a record for it in the database), I assumed your plugin would do the same. Darn.
