after i save the changes, the default logo remains the same.

You should be in the dashboard and on the left go to appearance>>header. A customize screen will come up. Click on header image.

Is that what you are doing?

yes, i was able to get my header image up. But on the top right there is the option for your logo, which i cannot change.
