• hi all,

i’m loving this idea, thanks matt and team ??

currently new users, set to a level where they can edit posts, can edit everyone’s posts.. this might not be a good idea for a huge public twitter-style site.

any advice on how best to set defaults on new users so that they can manage their own stuff, but not everyone else’s?

also, anyone working on the admin design to make it more like the ‘front’ interface?

    cheers!

  • Hi,

    Refer this article:

    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Roles_and_Capabilities

Now, you can set the default role of new user from these steps:

-. Login into the wordpress admin area.
    – Settings -. general section.

    Thanks,

    Shane G.

    hi shane,

that wasn’t really my question. i know *how* to change roles. i’m wondering if anyone has come up with the most appropriate defaults for a theme that is trying to be twitter…

What I did was download the role manager plugin and copied” the default “editor” role for wordpress. I then modified the permissions using the role manager plugin to restrict editing/publishing rights to just their own post/comments. I also limited some things in the back end.
