    Hi,

I just upgraded to 3.0 and realized, that the single view Default Page Template is not compatible with Genesis framework’s themes. I couldn’t figure out, how you include the content, but I guess it’s related to the method, you include it.

Please make this plugin compatible with Genesis, but I guess I can say, to make it compatible with every WordPress themes.

I don’t know, why you have chosen such a difficult way to include the content for single view. There is the the_content filter, which is the most recommended way to add extra content.

There are also issues with the event title, which is also not a standard implementation. Also it is not displayed with h1, instead you display it with h2 tag. I don’t know the reason, but it is not the best tag for the page’s main title. And I don’t understand why don’t you let the WordPress theme to display the title, if I choose the Default Page Template option. It should do, what it says, render the content with the default template. This is not a default template, this is a custom template.

Please make a default template, which works as expected and which was working before 3.0 version. Thank you!

@jonahcoyote – Can you please link your Genesis site, where it is working for you?

Can you please fix this issue, as it is related to one of the most popular theme framework for WordPress?

I’m a Pro customer also, so I’m not just a free user. May I expect more care and support?

    I agree with Surbma,
it’s weird like that, Surbma, you can create a custom template to fix that though.

What I find extremely frustrating is that there’s additional wrappers around the page content. Even when creating a custom single-event.php I still get bogus wrappers WITHIN my #content, breaking all the styling in my theme applying to the #content.

Is there ANY way to get it to use the default? IE: not having #tribe-events-pg-template but using the normal stuff that I get from genesis?

I’d REALLY love to use my default Genesis page template and add the event information with hooks.

Hey Surbma (and Jeffrey). Just wanted to give you guys a heads up that Jonah’s last day was actually Friday, so he’s unfortunately no longer available to us as a resource for this thread. But I will say as to your comment: yes, PRO users are definitely entitled to a deeper level of support than non-PRO users. Basically we spend about two hours a week on the dot-org forum here looking purely for bug reports; for anything deeper than that (customizations, tweaks, workarounds) as well as for speedier replies, users who have PRO access should take advantage of those premium forums at https://tri.be/support/forums.

Jeffrey: I assume you’ve already checked the docs/themer’s guide on tri.be? (Sorry if you’ve already addressed that; not seeing any earlier comments from you in this thread). Let me know if you need links there or if those don’t have the information you’re seeking.

@roblagatta – Thank you for the update! I have posted my issues to the pro support forum. But I believe it is a global issue, which should be solved here as well.

If you find the solutions, I will post them here as well for other Genesis users.

Same goes for me, I’ve posted it in the Pro forums.
    It’s under the name “twentwatchers”.

Hoping someone is able to help over there :^)

So I think we ran through a few things over on the other forum – in general though there’s no reason The Events Calendar can’t be used with Genesis – it just requires a little tweaking, as it does for many themes.

In light of which, I’ll mark this one as resolved.

We should say, it can be made to work with Genesis. Not perfect, but working.

The Events archive view is only working if the content archives are set to “Display post content” and NOT excerpts in the Genesis Theme settings.

It needs more tweaking and codes also to hide unnecessary elements, like post-meta, post link.

Because this plugin doesn’t use the standard WordPress APIs and codes to display content, Genesis (and all other theme) “thinks” that the archive page is a normal, single page.

Now this thread can be closed, because developers don’t seem to do anything to make it better.

Which really is different than what you’ve posted. The Genesis theme framework is not WordPress. I think you may want to set your expectations of plugin support in terms of WordPress and not a theme framework.

Surbma: you’re disappointed and we’re sorry about that – we have however noted down a great deal of your feedback though and will keep that in mind as development progresses, balanced of course with feedback from our user-base as a whole.

    Thanks again ??
