    Hi! I was just informed that a volunteer notification that is set to be sent 4 days before an volunteer event got sent out more than a month after the volunteer event. We did use a plugin called “Duplicate Post” to duplicate an opportunity so we are wondering if that possibly caused it. Any help and insight you can provide would be helpful. Thank you!

    Thanks for reaching out @joelnewcomer and sorry you’re running into issues with the reminder emails. For some background, the plugin utilizes the WordPress Cron system to send emails. Essentially, the reminder email is triggered to be sent when anyone visits your website and the volunteer opportunity is starting in less than four days. That said, it’s pretty unlikely that it was a month between your website visits. However, it can be helpful to know that the emails don’t normally come exactly four days before the opportunity starts.

    To troubleshoot the best next step would be to create a new volunteer opportunity to start five days from now and RSVP for it. If you get the email four days out then you’ll know the system is generally working fine. Since we don’t know how the Duplicate Post plugin might be affecting this, I’d suggest creating one opportunity from scratch, and duplicating another.

    Feel free to give that a try and let me know how it goes. If you’re not getting the reminder emails then we’ll need to continue troubleshooting to find the cause.

    @jg-visual Thank you for your quick response. I talked to our hosting company (WP Engine) and I believe this has to do with caching and WP-Cron. They made an internal change so that the Cron is run at intervals instead of views. I believe this is resolved. Thank you again and that you for providing a great plugin!
