Will this redirect everything what is coming after /review/ ?

Or do I just have to say…

anything before /live/ anything after

becomes anything before / anything after

This is what I dont understand.

First, please know I am no expert in this.

The urls are today like this:

https://mysite.de/live/review/post-111/
https://mysite.de/category/live/review/

they must become

https://mysite.de/review/post-111/
https://mysite.de/category/review/

If I were dealing with just a few posts, I would likely just do a unique redirect for each actual post:

# Permanent URL redirect - generated by www.rapidtables.com
Redirect 301 /live/review/post-111/ https://mysite.de/category/review/post-111/

However, it looks to me like you are wanting to deal with the overall *paths* to posts (files), not individual posts, and that is something I have yet to ever do other than by copying-and-pasting a bit of code after moving an entire installation sitting in a sub-folder.

I just deleted the both parent categories. All is fine, WordPress handels it perfect. Even if the parent category are still in the URLs.

For people that call the old category itself I do a simple redirect ??

RedirectMatch 301 /live/(.*) https://mysite.de/
