Delete the old sitemap file

Hi, you can easily delete sitemap from google search.

Thanks but this sitemap is already deleted on Google Search. But when Google explores pages, it still detects this old sitemap in the page code. I need to delete this sitemap from my website root code. Somebody knows where I can delete it?
I have no third party plugin who generates this sitemap… So I don’t know why it’s still in the code of my pages.

It looks like your robots.txt file references 2 sitemaps, 1 on /sitemap.xml and one on /news-sitemap.xml. The latter one shows a 404 as it does not exist, and the first one gets redirected by our plugin to the Yoast sitemap under /sitemap_index.xml.

Having said this, please check if you can edit your robots.txt file under SEO > Tools > File Editor. If you are not able to edit the file through your WordPress Dashboard, then you can edit it directly on your web server. See https://yoast.com/features/file-editor-robots-txt/

Now I’ve replaced this :

User-agent: *
Disallow: /wp-admin/
Allow: /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php

By this:

Sitemap: https://jacquesjulien.com/sitemap_index.xml
User-agent: *
Disallow: /wp-admin/
Allow: /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php

I hope it will fix my issues now.

It’s not really necessary for you to add a sitemap directive in your robots.txt file if you intend on submitting your sitemap (/sitemap_index.xml) to Google Search Console and the other webmaster tools.
