    Hi guys,

I’ve recently set up a new store and before going live, I’ve made a few test purchases myself of products displayed in the store.

This was done in normal mode via Paypal, so basically I just used very low product prices for the sake of testing and went through the checkout process myself, exactly the same way as a genuine customer would, and actually paid for the products.

As a result, this generated orders in WooCommerce as it should, and I “Completed” these orders just to make sure that everything worked fine.

After ensuring that it’s all good, I have then deleted these orders from the store, but unfortunately the record of these test sales is still reflected in the stock quantities of those products, as I have stock management enabled.

So in other words, with stock management being enabled, when potential customers view the product page, they see that 1 item has already been sold (my test purchase), but I would like this record to be removed, since it was my own test purchase.

Is there a way to refresh WooCommerce store for it to stop recognizing those deleted orders as sales?

I’ve read something about clearing transients and regenerating product lookup tables from the Tools section of WooCommerce Status, but didn’t want to mess around with that before asking, and I’m not sure if that would fix this issue?

    Thanks for your help.

Just to provide more info, I’m not using any additional plugins for displaying the sold quantity of products in the store.

I’ve got MobiMax theme installed and I believe this feature is included in the theme.

    Hi @zdebx ,

The stock was reduced when your orders were made and paid for. The stock levels would be increased if you changed the status of the paid orders to refunded and ticked the option to restore stock. Note that you can also trigger a refund from PayPal this way from WooCommerce.

For now, you will want to manually edit the stock quantities of the affected products from their product data > inventory.

For reference, kindly check this documentation that explains order statuses further: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/managing-orders/#order-statuses.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks.

    Hi @abwaita ,

    Thanks for your reply.

The problem is that I deleted those completed test orders and then permanently removed them from the trash as well, so I can no longer see them on the WooCommerce dashboard, meaning I cannot change the order status.

However, because those orders were completed, WooCommerce still counts it as a sale in the inventory.

Yes, I can try to increase the stock quantity from the inventory of the product, but the problem is that WooCommerce thinks that I’m “out of stock”, when I still have 1 item remaining.

    Here’s a screenshot that shows what I mean > https://i.ibb.co/8zDGG9M/sold.png

Do I have any other options apart from refunding all test orders?

    Regards

Thanks for the added clarification as well as the screenshot, they’ve added some important details to the issue.

Actually, this is not supposed to happen since an item should not be in stock and sold out at the same time.

Kindly try doing a conflict test and check whether on the front end the item will be available for purchase.

Let us know how it goes.
    Thanks.

The checkout process and the functionality of the website is not affected by this error – it seems to be only a display issue for sold items.

The line that says “Sold Out” normally displays the number of items sold, such as here > https://i.ibb.co/GHQnmPm/stock1.png

If I put stock quantity as “1”, then it shows the correct quantity available, but I believe it shows “Sold Out” at the same time, because WooCommerce thinks I’m out of stock due to a previous sale.

Please note, “Sold Out” and “Out of Stock” are 2 different lines. The “Add To Basket” option is available when the item quantity is at least 1, however if the stock is 0, then you can no longer add the item to the basket and the message displayed is “Out of Stock”.

See this screenshot when “Out of Stock” with no basket > https://i.ibb.co/gRVBXdn/out.png

I’m 99% sure that this issue is caused by my completed/deleted test orders, but I can’t figure out how to solve this.

    Thanks

    Thanks for getting back @zdebx.

Just to clarify on my previous reply, I was referring to this screenshot that shows 2 lines, one says “1 in stock” and the other says “Sold Out”. This seems not logical as the item should not be sold out while still in stock.

    >If I put stock quantity as “1”, then it shows the correct quantity available, but I believe it shows “Sold Out” at the same time, because WooCommerce thinks I’m out of stock due to a previous sale.

WooCommerce should show that the item is still in stock if on the backend there’s a positive quantity in your inventory or Out of stock if the inventory is depleted.

In addition, the “Already Sold: X” text seems not to be coming from WooCommerce. The inbuilt option shows “X in stock”, not the items already sold. Thus, you might be having another tool that has a counter that’s causing the “Sold Out” text while the item is still in stock.

Have you tried conflict testing just to eliminate the possibility that the issue is being caused by another plugin or your theme?

    Thanks.

    Thanks for your reply.

I believe you’re right with the fact that the 2nd line that shows “Already sold” items is NOT related to WooCommerce. There’s probably a plugin or some built-in feature in the theme that’s causing it.

The stock management side of things works perfectly fine with WooCommerce, so I will see if I can do conflict testing and also contact the theme developer to see what they say.

I will keep you updated. Thanks

Hi guys, sorry I forgot to update this thread.

I managed to resolve the issue by contacting the theme developer, as the product sales count feature was part of the theme and it was not functioning correctly.

Unfortunately, we had to remove it completely to solve the problem, but this has addressed my concerns, so it’s all good.

    Thanks for your excellent support.
