Deleted Home page..brilliant!

  • I am just getting started. I uploaded new theme via FTP. I thought I deleted page two but now when you select the home tab, it says “Sorry the page have been deleted”. Now I want to start over or create a new “Home” page. If I can create a new home page how do I do that or what folder contains all the files and I will delete and reupload. Thanks. Bill

    On the WordPress Dashboard, under manage/pages, I have pages numbered 3,4,5,and 6. I deleted pages 1 & 2. So when you go to https://www.mydomain.com it says: “Sorry the page has been romoved”. How do I fix this? How do I restore the home page or start over?

    You don’t.
    You create new Pages. They will have an ID that is the next incremental number – i.e if you last post has ID# 999, your newly created Page will be 1000.

    Remember: all your content (posts, Pages, comments, settings etc.) are stored in the MySQL database, not in files.

    And I do not know if this is of any help, but if a page that was set as your home page has been deleted, you can go to Options -> Reading and set your “Front Page Displays” options to whatever other pages that you think should be instead.

    Alternatively, you can also select it to display your latest posts, as well.

    A caveat – this is only in WP 2.3, though. Since you had indicated that you are just getting started, I figured that you are probably using this version.
