I wanted to try setting up a slideshow for a new site, and I’d forgotten exactly how I’d done it before, so I just added the shortcode to the page I wanted it on. The slideshow showed up, and where I wanted, but with a lot of extra weird space underneath it. So I decided to delete it and work on the rest of the site, but when I deleted the shortcode and updated the page, nothing happened. I cleared the cache which didn’t work, and also changed the settings of the images, which did work. However, other than that it didn’t respond, including when I deleted the actual slideshow in the meteor slides menu. I’ve had weird issues with my hoster/server before, but since the slideshow went away when I deactivated Meteor Slides altogether and then came back after I reactivated it, it seems like the plugin.

The slideshow’s on the front page under the menu:

I would check the HTML view in the post editor to make sure you don’t have another copy of the shortcode hidden in there. But are you sure you aren’t adding the slideshow to the page differently?

The slideshow isn’t in the primary content area where I would expect to see it if you added it via a shortcode to the page content.

I double-checked; no code in any of the post editor and I never put in any code elsewhere. I did change the margin above the slideshow, so that’s why it may look differently placed, but no reason I can see why it would show up now.

Adding a slideshow adds on to the page with current “ghost” one and then when you delete it, it replaces the older slideshow, or just uses all the slides. Looks like the only way to get rid of a ghost slideshow is to delete all the slides involved.

I don’t see the slideshow on there now, did you get it figured out?

Sort of yeah, you have to delete everything associated with the slide show.

Sorry, you shouldn’t have to go to such lengths to remove a slideshow, sounds like you might have some aggressive caching.

Anything I can do to diagnose/fix that? I’ve tried cleaning out my browser’s cache, but that doesn’t make much of a difference.

I don’t see any caching on the site that would be built into WordPress, so I would check with your webhost.
