Deleting ALL photos from WP gallery

Hi all,
I’ve got a question regarding deleting photos from my WP gallery. I have a huge build up of around 200 images that I don’t need. Is there a way to go into my server (Host Monster) and delete all traces of these photos? There’s no way I”m going one by one to delete them all within WP. I found them located in wp-content under uploads, however deleting those does not get rid of them. There still appears to be reference files somewhere. Any help on this would be most appreciated.
