deleting custom fields in wordpress 2.6.2

    I have a user who entered a bunch of custom field stuff that should have actually gone into the SEO plugin. We’ve duplicated the data now to SEO plugin but we are unable to delete the custom fields we entered. Is this because other pages and posts are using these same values?
