Deleting html files and installing wordpress on c panel

  • Hello
    I have domain and hosting account.On my domain there is HTML website.Now i want to remove HTML website and install wordpress on it.I have already installed wordpress on that domain and it was successfully installed but site keeps on showing old HTML website.I couldn’t find where those HTML files are located in c panel because it was developed by someone else.I want to remove old HTML and install wordpress on it.Please please help.

    It depends on the server configuration, but they’re probably in a directory called either /public_html/ or /web/ or /www/

    Index files (what essentially loads the site) are accessed by browsers alphabetically, so I bet you have a file called index.html essentially overriding WordPress’s index.php file when the domain is visited. Removing index.html will allow WordPress to take over.

    I found index.html file and deleted it but it still shows homepage with https://www.domain.com/# .I have deleted index.html and contact.html on my website.They won’t show now but homepage is still there.Can you help please how to remove it??
