UpdraftPlus Backup/Restore suggests I Delete Old Directories, saying my WordPress install has old directories from its state before you restored/migrated… (This was due to a Rename, making my current website the Primary and deleting another that I never developed but which had originally been set up as a multi-site.) My theme’s tech support person suggested I go on my server’s FTP and download a copy of my theme and the child theme folders. I keep getting error messages when I try to do that so I am thinking about going ahead and deleting old directories so I can do a backup of the site now that it’s been restored. What’s the worst that could happen if I do this before I have completed a successful download of my theme folders? Should I wait until I can figure out the download problem on the FTP site or go ahead with the delete so I can schedule a backup?

    Hi,

If you’re happy with the state of the restored site, then just delete those old folders. They’re only useful for rolling back to the state before you restored. You can just create a fresh backup now, and then delete them – if you ever want them back, you can get them out of the backup.

Thank you, David! I have since done so and all seems to be well!
