• Whenever I delete a page or a post in one of the sub-sites of my multisite installation and then go to view the site, I get a page populated by repetitions of the following errors:

Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Compilation failed: nothing to repeat at offset 1 in /home/litquake/litcrawl.org/wp-includes/class-wp.php on line 198

Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Compilation failed: nothing to repeat at offset 1 in /home/litquake/litcrawl.org/wp-includes/class-wp.php on line 199

Is this a known bug or a problem in my installation? (I have searched the forum posts to no avail.) I believe I’ve heard of a way to go into the database and “un-delete” the posts/pages, but I need a pointer to the details. And, if this is going to happen every time I delete a page/post, it’s not a very practical site.

No, this is not a known bug.

I would try manually re-uploading all the WordPress core files, as well as turning off all the plugins. You may have a plugin conflict.

I re-uploaded the files in wp-admin and wp-includes, and then deactivated the plugins, but it made no difference.

Additional info: the only subsite that is broken is the one where I deleted the page (litcrawl.org/sf). The primary site (litcrawl.org) and the other subsites (litcrawl.org/nyc and litcrawl.org/austin) are working. Even if I add and delete pages on those subsites, they continue to work properly.

In the broken subsite, I cannot get to the front end, or to either Pages or Posts in the Admin panel on the backend. I can maneuver through the rest of the Admin area.

Oh. Huh. Check your DB and see if it needs repairing?

That’s REALLY weird. Did you turn off all mu-plugins too? Try the Default theme (sometimes functions can bork)?

or to either Pages or Posts in the Admin panel on the backend.

I think this might be a clue, but i’m too brain fuzzy at the moment.
