    You can configure the display of the search form on your main events page by going to Events > Settings > Formatting > Search Form

    Simply select the items you want to show, and remove those you want to hide, according to your tastes.

    is this formatting the widget search box?
    I can’t see where the search box is I,m formatting if not

    Or is it a shortcode to include in the page

    The formatting for the search widget is separate.

    Can you post a link to the page you’re trying to format?

    I,m just trying to add that search box to my main page “events page”
    Is it added with a shortcode?

    To activate the search box set Show events search? to yes under Events > Settings > Pages > Event List/Archives.

    if you’re not seeing things as expected, try your default wp theme to check if it’s not theme related.
