For no apparent reason, someone external to my organization purchased a domain and pointed it to our main domain. Is there any way to deny access to users typing that domain to access the website?

Hi @islp, thanks for reaching out!

That certainly sounds like an unusual situation, but can completely understand why you’d want to stop this. Whilst referers can be spoofed, I think a referer block of *fakedomain.com* or a hostname block of *.fakedomain.com in Wordfence > Blocking > Custom Pattern could help. Give those a try and run some tests on a mobile connection so you don’t accidentally get blocked on the main IP you’re using for most devices.

If another domain has its A-Record actually pointed directly to your site’s IP, you may need to consult your host on how to prevent this domain name from returning your site when it’s requested. This can often be done through server or control panel settings.

I hope that helps you out!
    Peter.

Hi Peter, first of all thanks for your kind reply.

Investigating further, I found the problem is completely different. A couple of days ago, someone (anonymous) purchased a domain and a shared hosting server in the USA. Then cloned the website. So, this is not redirecting, this is a completely different thing.
