    Hi,
We have multiple authors contributing to our single www.ads-software.com site, and have been using Members to limit their activities. However, I’m noticing that some of our writers continue to create tags for their posts (when other in-place tags would do just as well). I see reference to a “Category and Tag Caps add-on” which is now supposed to be built in to Members, but I’m not seeing any ability to deny creation of tags by role.
    Is it possible?
    Thanks

    Hi Kip,

Have you checked the “Taxonomies” tab in role editor that should have Assign Post Tags, Edit Post Tags, Manage Post Tags and Delete Post Tags capabilities?

    Thanks,
First, I did not have “Category and Tag Caps” enabled in Add ons, so didn’t have those capabilities, but now I do ??
However what I’m looking for is to disable “create tags.” I want writers to be able to assign existing tags, but not create new ones. Will “manage post tags” accomplish that?

The “Manage Post Tags” capability allows users access to Posts > Tags section. In order to assign tags you need to give users “Assign Post Tags” capability, but this will also allow them to create tags. I’m afraid that disabling “create tags” is not possible.
