Deprecated Errors & No Access

  • Hello,

    I’m getting the following error messages (numerous times) at the top of my blog:

    “Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in…”

    It is probably old theme code running on php 5.3.3. I realize I have to update WP, and get an updated theme. However, the problem I am having is I can’t log into the control panel to change themes. I get the following error messages:

    1. Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated

    2. Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by …

    Therefore, I don’t have access to the control panel. I can enter the username, and password, and still get error messages, but no access.

    Any ideas?

  • Switch to the Twenty Ten theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

    Change the value of WP_DEBUG in your wp-config file to FALSE
