    Hi @charmedchicken,

    Thanks for reaching out!

We don’t parse Divi shortcodes in the WordPress back end to avoid issues. We only parse them while generating Meta Descriptions in the page source code.

This is why you’ll see them in the pages view or when you edit a page and there are no Smart Tags or Text entered in the Meta Description.

I’m sorry for any confusion caused by this.

Please be sure to add Meta Desciption text manually which is recommended or by using the Smart Tags provided – https://a.supportally.com/i/2CKGKR

If you’re seeing shortcodes when you share to Mastodon, could you please try clearing any website or server cache to see if this helps with the issue?

Please let me know how it goes.

    Thanks!

Thank you for your reply. I am not sure I understand. According to the screen image, the smart tag “post excerpt” is in that box. The excerpt box is empty on the post, and it should pull the first 50 words or so. Instead, it’s pulling the divi code.

So if I am understanding correctly, if I use the Divi builder on a post, I will have to make the additional step of putting in a manual excerpt so it doesn’t pull the Divi code. This means your plugin is not compatible with divi, which is not what your website says.

    Hi @charmedchicken,

    Thanks for the follow-up.

If there is no Excerpt text for the post, could you please go to All in One SEO > Search Appearance > Advanced and toggle On the Run Shortcodes option – https://a.supportally.com/i/UY80mK

This should fix the issue with the Divi shortcodes being displayed and will instead display text.

You can confirm this by viewing the page in your browser, then using Ctrl + U or right-click on the page and select View Sourcehttps://a.supportally.com/i/euSJPC

Please let me know if that works for you.

    Thanks!

Unfortunately toggling that setting on broke the Divi builder. I guess your plugin isn’t compatible with Divi, after all.

    Hi @charmedchicken,

I’m sorry that enabling the run shortcodes option created an issue with Divi Builder and I aplogize for the delayed response.

Could you please share some more details regarding the Divi issue, perhaps with some screenshots or a screencast of the problem, so that I can investigate this and assist you further?

You may use a tool like Snipboard (https://snipboard.io/) or Loom (https://www.loom.com/screen-recorder) to create & share the screenshots/screencasts.

Could you also please use the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/) to debug possible conflicts by following these steps:

This test will not effect the site for your visitors.

    1. Go to?Plugins > Add New?and install and activate the?Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    2. Go to?Plugins > Installed?Plugins and click on?Troubleshoot?below the All in One SEO plugin.
    3. This will temporarily disable all the plugins and switch to a default theme only for your user ID without impacting what your visitors see.
    4. Under Troubleshooting Mode > Themes at the top, please enable Divi Builder.
    5. Check to see if you’re able to reproduce the problem.
    6. If there is no issue, please enable your plugins one at a time under Troubleshooting Mode and then recheck for the Divi issue each time.
    7. Once you’re done troubleshooting, deactivate and delete the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.

Please let me know what you find.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

I provided three screen images with my very first post. The first one being the admin posts page that shows what it was pulling for the excerpt. The second is the smart tag and the third was what was being sent to social media sites.

I am restricting the post with my membership plugin, so it is possible now that I’m thinking about it, that is preventing the excerpt from being pulled, but I am also certain I’ve seen this issue on general pages built with the divi plugin builder in the past and before I installed any membership component.

At this point, I will simply be aware of the issue and work with it, as I have duplicated this issue on two sites now (the second one just today) and will simply double check excerpts before posting these very specific posts that I use Divi for. Otherwise I am using the regular block builder which seems to have no outstanding issues in this regard.

    Hi @charmedchicken,

Thanks for the follow-up and I apologize for the delayed response.

This seems like an issue that would be difficult to troubleshoot without being able to investigate it in more detail.

Would you mind reaching out to us directly via our free Basic Question form here so we can take a closer look?

    Thanks!
