I’ve followed all directions for creating a menu, published, and now the url is only showing the Menu Sections in text. I recently updated my site so I’m wondering if the issue is my PHP is outdated?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi Anna,

Unfortunately, the link you shared looks to be a draft and cannot be viewed publicly.

Just so we have a better understanding of the situation, could you share a public link?

Just looking at the URL, it seems to me that perhaps you are trying to view the WordPress-generated single post page for the menu. (We use a custom post type to create the menu.) To display the menu, you need to be placing the block or shortcode on a page. Can you try that and see if it makes a difference?

I’ve placed the shortcode on a page, and it just comes back with a bunch of text from the menu I created. I don’t want to make it public and mess up my current menu, so I’ve copied and pasted what it looks like below:

    Hello anna,

Thanks for sharing that with us. Unfortunately, it will be difficult to identify the issue just by looking at that plain text. Access to the web page would allow us to inspect the HTML and see what’s going on. Are you able to duplicate your current menu page and share that with us instead?

Here’s a link to a duplicate page with the shortcode included. Let me know if this helps: https://bubssandiego.com/menus-copy/
Upon posting, WordPress emailed me alerting the Restaurant Menu and Food Ordering by Five Star Plugin caused a fatal error on my site. Everything appears to be in working order, but I’m not sure why this is happening.

    Thanks for sharing the URL.

From the looks of it, you are not loading any CSS provided by the plugin. You can verify this by going to the plugin Settings page and then to Basic > Style > Menu Formatting. What do you have that option set to?

If you want to use CSS provided by the plugin, you will need to set that option to “Apply Menu Styles” or “Base Formatting Only.”

Alternatively, if you were trying to use your own styles/CSS, and it’s not taking effect on the front end, then I would suggest that you clear any cache (both in your browser and in any caching plugins you might have installed) and verify that the Custom CSS has been added to the correct place.

Also, I noticed that you do not have any items added to your menu sections. Was that intentional? Should you need more information on creating menu items and adding them to a section, you can visit our documentation page here: https://doc.fivestarplugins.com/plugins/food-and-drink-menu/user/menus/items

My Menu Formatting Setting is and has been set to “Apply Menu Settings” and I am not trying to use my own styles/CSS.

In my Menu Items, I have 74 items listed and assigned to menu sections.

    Hi Anna,

Thanks for sharing that info with us. In that case, it definitely sounds like there is some sort of caching going on. Have you tried clearing your cache to see if that makes a difference?
