Design Options sluggish, doesn’t save changes, crashes browser

  • Hi, I’m running WordPress 2.8.3 and Thesis Theme 1.5.1. Just in the last day or two, my “Design Options” in the “Appearance” menu has been very sluggish and sometimes causes my browser to crash.

    When I click on “Design Options”, it takes about 20 second for it to open. Then it doesn’t often save the changes that I make. Instead, the connection will time out.

    Any ideas of what I can do? Thanks!

  • There hasn’t been a Design Option menu item in WordPress since 2.7. Do you mean Appearance/Editor?

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems.

    Thank you for your reply. The Design Options menu is part of the WP Appearance menu in the Thesis theme. I’ll try your suggestions. Thanks!
