• I’m using both the Storefront Designer and the Storefront Customizer.

    I’m also using a Storefront child theme, not Storefront itself.

    There are numerous problems I’m attempting to work out but atm the biggest problem is that the main navigation bar doesn’t stick.

    During my troubleshooting I have disabled all other plugins etc and the problem persists.

    Any help would be appreciated!

  • Yep I have storefront theme, my own child theme (just style.css) and I have customiser and designer installed. https://glitznglamoccasionz.co.uk/

    I suggest contacting woothemes support. We’ll be able to get your log in details and do some further investigation there. Sorry about the frustration here.

    I have now thoroughly debugged my css and this my conclusion:

    Be very careful with media queries. Try systematically stripping them out to see which ones causes bugs.

    I did this and now the site works pretty well on large screens.

    But the mobile navigation does not stick and is not very good. And Woocommerce have yet to reply to my ticket. They provide a good product with poor support and their menus are not properly responsive. (ie they don’t work properly on mobile phones)

    So was this something you introduced?

    But the mobile navigation does not stick

    The mobile navigation will not stick. This is intentional as it would take up screen real estate which is very valuable on smaller screens.

    and is not very good.

    What’s not very good about it? Please elaborate and we can work on improving these things. Saying something is ‘not very good’ helps nobody ??

    There are three issues here:

    Bugs I have introduced – which obviously complicate things. These I have dealt with.

    Woocommerce support seem to be overloaded. While, I sympathise, I have paid for support.

    The third and most important issue is that the mobile navigation is unsatisfactory in the following ways:

    It is not very configuerable without writing your own css.

    It does not stick and worse it does not collapse when clicked on. I am using it on a page with smooth scroll and this is the root of the problem.

    Things that would be great are:
    A mobile menu customiser so I don’t have to hack code.
    The ability to change the word “Navigation” easily. My customers are not techy and would much prefer the word “menu”.

    Send us some links to sites where the mobile navigation works well so I can see what I should be aiming please ??

    Otherwise I am very happy with the product.

    It is not very configuerable without writing your own css.

    What kind of configuration options would you like to see?

    I still maintain my opinion that a sticking navigation is generally a bad idea on mobile. Obviously there are exceptions and your site is clearly an exception. But that means this falls in to the realm of a customisation and I don’t agree it’s fair to criticise the product because it doesn’t fulfil your unique requirements. Unfortunately in this case you’ll just need to work on the customisation.

    The ability to change the word “Navigation” easily. My customers are not techy and would much prefer the word “menu”.

    This is already fairly easy but it’s a common request so I’ll raise the idea of adding this to core for discussion.

    Hi, James!

    The same issue is here for quite a while. The sticky navigation does not work. It worked perfectly before, but not anymore.

    I am using the latest WP 4.5 and a standard Storefront theme with a blank child theme.

    I have not made any changes to the core theme.

    What could be done in order to recover this option?

    Hey,

    Not much without a log in to diagnose the problem. There is no bug in Storefront or the extension though, I’ve just triple checked this with a bunch of our child themes.

    Some steps for you to try;

    * Deactivate child theme
    * Deactivate all plugins one at a time
    * Reinstall Storefront core

    Cheers

    Hi, James!

    I deactivated the blank child theme and switched to Storefront. I deactivated all the plugins except WooCommerce and Storefront Designer. I deleted and uploaded again Storefront theme.

    All this does not help.

    I am running the latest WP 4.5 and latest WooComerce 2.5.5.

    However, I think I found out something. The sticky navigation works if the header is in Expanded view. With all other header options (compact, central, inline) the sticky navigation just stopped working. But in expanded view it works as usual.

    Regratfully, the expanded view does not fit my needs.

    So, probably this information could be of help to you?
