Desperately Seeking Help!

  • Our website is still in beta, thank God. The issue I’m having is this: I installed a WP plugin called “Sexybookmarks”. It wasn’t working to our liking so I simply deactivated it in the plugins menu and deleted it from the server. After I deleted it, I started getting a password pop-up menu which has never happened before. I think our images we uploaded through the media uploader are password protected? I set ALL images in the uploads folder to 777 for full read & write permissions, but this doesn’t seem to work. Also, our sidebar disappeared (I assume this has to do with the error displayed at the top of the page). I tried looking for that exact error, but I can’t be bothered to count down 1045 lines in this file. Is there an easier way? Could anyone help out with this issue? Is it a simple fix? (Sidebar: I touched no coding whatsoever).

    Hi fHawaii,

    First off, I’m assuming that you mean the browser popup window that displays on page load.

    I’m by no means a guru, but to me it looks like a server issue. The images directory is being password protected via your .htaccess file. Contact your webhost and have them remove the protection, and I’m guessing that you’ll be back up and running!

    Beyond that, it looks like you’re having a bigger issue with some remaining code from the widget. When I try to load your /wp-admin/ directory, I don’t get the same pop-up, but I do get the PHP error:

    Warning: array_keys(): The first argument should be an array in /home/content/c/u/z/cuzzo/html/beta/wp-includes/widgets.php on line 1045

    Once you have the server/password problem corrected, it should be pretty easy to dig around and see what’s going on with that.

    Thank you. I’m contacting GoDaddy right now to see if the issue can be resolved. Also, I wanted to note that I did a restore of a backup I did a few days ago. But none of that should have affected the .htaccess file right?

    It’s unlikely, unless you’ve actually overwritten the file. If you used an FTP client, it’s usually hidden as that file is reserved for the system.

    See what GoDaddy tells you and take it from there. After that, switch to a real webhost. I’ve had great luck with HostGator.
