    Hi peepz.

I’m in a state of panic, since i’m trying to build a website for a local football-club. They need a couple of functions that I don’t can’t seem to solve.
Iv’e been looking at some plugins, but they don’t seem to be capable of doing what my client needs.

    They need:

    1 – A sign-up function for new members.

2 – When people sign up, they should be added to team rosters automatically.

3 – Administrator-login for the coaches to use.

    Please help!

    Best regards, NT

You’d need to outline your needs in more detail than that. I have no idea how a team roster would work and what extra functionality this might give a user. You don’t say why the coaches would need a special login or what level of permissions those admins would need.

Possibly you need a membership plugin (of which there are several worth looking at) and maybe another plugin to create a new role (if admin or editor aren’t suitable).

But before doing anything, scope your needs carefully.

Do you have a basic website already started for this project? (ie hosting, WordPress installed, a few basic pages set up). Are you generally familiar with making changes to functions or plugins?

Jason is correct, write out more detail about the specific flow of information + activities + results that are needed.

Several membership plugins will be able to help to get you started or most of the way there– but if your needs are super-specialized, you might find it helpful to hire a developer that is well-versed in your selected membership plugin to customize the functions. Some of the membership and community plugins might provide a list of experienced developers/customizers.

Thx for the replies – I was starting to loose faith ??

Well, I don’t have a page setup yet, since the design would depend on the plugin-functions.

The general idea is, that the coaches need access to the rosters, to see how many players are signed up and who they are.

New members/players should only have access to certain parts of the site, like gallery and general info-sections. They should have the ability to access a sign-up function, where they can put in their name, address etc AND have the posiblity to choose which team/roster they want to play in/sign up for – they should then get a reply that tells them whether or not there’s room for new players on that team – so the roster should have the ability to set a maximum number of possible players.

A “wait list”-function would be nice – so that if a team is full at the moment, one should be able to sign up and then get a message, when a player leaves a team and a spot becomes vacant.

    Hope this makes sense

That sounds like custom functionality, not something you’re likely to find in a ready-made plugin.

Some of those features (restricting content according to membership) could be done using a membership plugin.

You’d need some custom fields for their contact details – simple enough with or without a plugin.

Choosing a team, maximum number of signups, wait list, and automatic responses – I’d struggle to think what kind of plugin to recommend for that.

Perhaps some of this functionality is similar to a social network, maybe this could be a BuddyPress type project.

Yeah, perhaps BuddyPress could do the trick, but my client needs everything to be in danish, and buddypress doesn’t allow you to change everything to another language.

Since i’m not a hardcore coder, and don’t know where to turn for assistance, except here, I guess i’ll have to abandone this project.
