    Hi.

I’ve cloned my installation of WP. Now, when I try to update something on the new site, the process fails and returns this errore message:

An error occurred while updating Contact Form Plugin: Download failed. Destination directory for file streaming does not exist or is not writable..

    where is the problem?

    thanks!

Parent Folder permission seems to be 755

  • Are you use the same user to transfer the files and update plugins?

In wordpress I have only one user, how can i Check if the problem could be the user?

The user of the FTP. Other thing, you updated the plugin through the admin?

Sorry, I didn’t specify what type of the user.

the FTP user is the one of my Internet Service Provider.

I updated the plugin through the backoffice admin panel of WordPress.

I don’t understand why this problem occurs

    ??

I think that occurs because the user that you put to update the plugin don’t have permissions to write in that directories. Try create a file through of the FTP in the plugin directory to see if have permission.

If have, is strange. Maybe with permission 777.

I tried to upload a file in wp-content/plugins/ through my FTP user. It works properly.

it is too strange. I can upload images through dashboard but i cannot update a plugin or install new one.

    Whay can I do?

it is strange even. Maybe your host block webftp. I don’t know if this is possible.

But my previous installation worked properly on the same host.

What do I check to find out if I missed something during the clonation of my new installation?

Try download again the 3.4.2 version. Delete all directories, minus the wp-content. And upload the downloaded files.

    It does not works.

It’s strange: I can upload images but I cannot install plugins from WP backoffice.

Plugin directory is setted at 755 and files at 644.

    What can I try?

Ok, I have just found that WP_TEMP_DIR in wp-config.php had an absolute path referring to the old home dir!!!

    Fixed it, and it works!

    Thanks!

Nice. I didn’t know about this directive.
