• I would like to know if I can set up a new site, subdomain, with a brand new theme (as opposed to the old domain. I tried to find the link for wordpress email team support, but this is too far buried. Please advise.

The problem is that my website was developed on an old version of wordpress. We have been told that simply ‘upgrading’ to a new version of wordpress would break the template and cause many funcationality issues.

Therefore, I would like to build a new site from scratch, however I would prefer not to by a seperate domain. Please advise.

  • Hi @grapa,

You can create a local installation of WordPress on your computer using https://local.getflywheel.com/ and, once everything’s done, move everything online.

    Hi @raduconstantin

Thank you very much for this suggestion. I’m getting into it now and trying it out. To “move it online” what I will actually want to do is apply our current live site address to the newly developed site. Is this a relatively easy thing to do as well?

To “move it online”, you can use a migration plugin, which asks you for the new domain name and will change it in the database for you, then save a zip of all the files and the database. You then run the plugin on the old site and it will load it for you.
