    Hi,

Not really a support issue. I just want your opinion before I proceed.

I’m thinking of hiring someone to implement a change to this plugin – the change will be along the lines of the plugin displaying the quote based on the timezone/date/time of the person visiting the website, and not of the timezone of my own website (which can result in the wrong daily quote being displayed for some in different time zones).

My understanding is that this plugin is open source. If changes are made to the plugin by someone other than you, will the change be made widely available for others?

Are there any other considerations I should keep in mind before proceeding?

Thanks for any advice you may provide.

    Sincerely,

    S A

    Hello,

Yes the plugin is open source and you (or anyone else) are/is free to modify the plugin to meet your needs.

As for including third party code into the official plugin; it depends. You may submit the new updates for consideration. However there is no guarantee of mainline inclusion.

I need to vet any code changes and reserve the right to pass on or alter any customization for the core branch. If the customization is not included it will become your responsibility to merge any new features from the mainline plugin into your customized version.

I wish you luck and hope your project goes.

    Cheers,

    Jeremy

    Dear Jeremy,

Thanks very much for your response.

I’m currently searching for an individual to customise the code/plugin to implement the desired change. If and when this is done I will certainly bring it to you for consideration.

Thanks, too, to you personally for your ongoing support of this plugin.

    All the best.
