• I had this activated on a site and we were having realy slow load times. Particularly before any content started to load. The browser would say “Waiting for domain.com….” for sometimes as much as 5-8 entire seconds! Once the site would start to load, then it loaded quickly. We looked in Firebug and saw that it was trying to connect to Hupso.com 1st! I disabled the plugin and instantly the site was much, much faster.

This makes me conflicted because I like this plugin. It doesn’t load all the garbage that some Facebook button plugins do. On the other hand, I really don’t like it when plugins “dial home”. I especially don’t like it when they do it on every single page load (front end or WP Admin) and slow the site down! That’s just not cool.

Same here, i like this plugin but suddenly it has started to slow down the loading wherever it is being used with the same contacting domain of hupso.com. Our request to the plugin owner to please fix this issue, otherwise i would have no option to switch to other plugin though i don’t want to switch.
    Thank you

I have been using this plugin since it first came out. It really is one of the best light weight choices for social sharing, and has some other very nice features as well.

However, I agree that there is a major issue with the loading latency that is now evident. I first noticed this being a problem about 6-8 weeks ago. Some of my sites would not load for many seconds while waiting for hupso.com. I chalked this up to a possible temporary network issue, but don’t really know for sure.

There must be a better way for this plugin to interact with the page load process. In the past the plugin author, kasal, has always been very responsive to bugs, issues and feature requests. I hope this issue will be treated the same way – as right now this has become a fix-it or ditch-it turning point. I will not be able to continue to use this plugin as it is now.

kasal – thanks again for the great plugin. But, please address this issue as soon as possible.
