I am aware of two places where I can add custom css on my webstie…
One of them at Appearance > Customize > Additional css.

The other one is right on my dashboard with a plus sign next to it and says “Custom CSS & JS”. Is this not the right spot??? I am concerned that I am adding things into the wrong area and messing with things I shouldn’t be messing with.

    Why are there two places?
    Does it matter?

  • Hello there,

    Are you using this plugin?

I personally recommend you use Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS. Because it’s a default feature from WordPress. Avoid using other CSS/JS plugin as it’ll slow down your site load.

Yes, I am using the simple custom css/JS that you have linked there. Does this one slow down the site?

Should I move all my codes over to the appearance>customize>additional css?

    Hello there,

Yes, it could slow your site since it’s loaded from different location. It will be much better if you put custom CSS code in one place. Yes, you should move it to Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS.

I deleted all the css in the plugin and moved it to the appearance>customize>additional css area and actually noticed a difference is my site loading speed right away.

    Thanks for the tip!

    You’re most welcome here!
