• I configured the wp-config file I uploaded the files to my web host (bluehost). But their FTP window shows 69.89.17.17 as the location for the files. How can I put in a URL to properly locate the config file? I’m not seeing the picture i should see to begin using WordPress (the FIRST STEP icon).

did i up load to an incorrect location or is there something wrong with the config file?

    Thanks

  • Since bluehost uses cPanel, your files will go under the public_html folder.

So if you want to access wordpress as https://www.sample.com/wordpress then use the cPanel File Manager navigate to the public_html folder. Upload the wordpress-2.1.3.zip file into the public_html folder. Click on that wordpress-2.1.3.zip file name, then in the top right, click on the Extract File Content link. The wordpress files will be extracted into a wordpress folder under /public_html. Then navigate to that folder, rename wp-config-sample.php to wp-config.php and edit that file and enter your database information correctly.

    Then do the install.php process.
